Céad Mile Fáilte go dtí an Hertfordshire County Board GAA Website.

The Hertfordshire county board is one of seven counties that fall under the jurisdiction of Provincial Council of Britain and like all have the the responsibility for the promotion of Irish Culture and sports throughout the Province of Britain and we see our own specific role to co-ordinate and strengthen Ireland's National games of Hurling, Gaelic Football and other aspects of Irish Culture throughout the area located between Birmingham and London

As a county we have seven senior and six minor clubs who compete on both a domestic and provincial level. Our county teams are also very well represented throughout each playing category

Hertfordshire by name but logistically activities are arranged within the Counties of Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire and Cambridgeshire and are all carried out by voluntary members. Like all members of our great association they seek no reward, but enjoy being part of an organisation that has at its core the promotion of Ireland's native pastimes.

    John Wallace Cup Semi Finals

St Colmcilles 1-10 Cambridge Parnells 2-07
Glen Rovers 2-07 St Dymphnas 2-08

Glen Rovers 2-07 St Dymphnas 2-08

St Dymphnas had an good win over Glen rovers in the semi-final of the John Wallace Cup. Missing a couple of first team regulars Dymphnas put in a cracking first half display which should have seen them out of site at half time playing against the wind. But points from Luke Maloney(2), Donal Nevin, Barry Flangan and a goal from Richard McKenzie meant that the half time scores were level at half time 1.04 a piece even though Dympna’s had most of the possession.

Dympna’s came flying out of the blocks at the start of the second half and a 10 minute spell seen them register 1.02 without reply with the goal coming from Donal Nevin. Watford though to their credit showed why they were crowned county champions last year started to raise their game and levelled the game with 10 minutes to go. Kyle Connolly put the Watford side ahead for the first time in the game with 5 mins remaining but a long range effort by Luke Maloney levelled the scores again. The last attack by Dympna’s in injury time resulted in Damien Maloney been fouled 20 metres from the Watford goal and his brother Luke converted to seal a  confident boosting win for Dympna’s.

Hertfordshire GAA – Senior Football League

    St Colmcilles 0.14 : St Josephs 0.02

Waltham Cross make senior debut but fall to greater craft.

It was a heartening occasion on Saturday evening at Cotlandswick, as St Josephs  leading lightst  at under-age level for some years, saw their young players take the first steps at the senior level. That they didn’t prevail almost seems unimportant, though St Colmcilles might not agree, as the young Waltham Cross side showed great promise and did not allow themselves to be overawed by their opponents of many great battles.

This was a fine sporting game and though the final margin was wide Josephs were a match for the illustrious in many facets of the game. They have skill in abundance but at time we witnessed their defence split open by marauding Colmcilles’ attackers.

There was no wind to affect exchanges on a glorious evening that saw Colmcilles lead by six points to one at the break. Josephs point came from Mark Kelleher and was an indicator of the talent he has as the score split the pints. He was their scorer too in the second half as Tommy McAndrews at left corner forward for Colmcilles showed that age was no barrier to achievement as he was their top scorer with four points.

Colmcilles other scores came from Wayne Duggan, Shane Cox, Connor Carney, John Brosnan and Paul Armstrong who made a huge impact when he came on for the second half. Deep in defence for the winners, Brian Phelan had a huge impact on the game with his many timely interceptions when Josephs looked dangerous

Conor Ó Maher in the Josephs’ half-back line was their most impressive player and along with Micheál Reynolds (in goal), Joe Bunyan and Kelleher formed the backbone of the highly promising debutants.  John Ó Néill before retiring injured proved a thorn to the St Josephs’ defence and with Gary MacGynne, Neil Whitworth, Paul Dolan and Aiden Slane showed the St Albans may well be on the come-back trail.

    St Colmcilles: W MacGynne, C Taggart, N Whitworth, B Phelan,  A Ó Byrne, P Dolan, N Gallagher, A Slane, B Keegan, C Carney, S Cox, J Brosnan, T McAndrews, J Ó Neill, W Duggan.

    St Josephs: Ml Reynolds, N Angland, C Mannion, L Fox, C Ó Maher, J Bunyan, P J Ó Shea, M Kelleher, M MacAuliffe, R Boyle, C Bailey, P McDonoughue, N MacKevitt, Ml OLeary, C Enright.

Glen Rovers Watford 1-14 vs Eire Og Oxford 1-05

Glen Rovers, county champions entertained Eire Og Oxford at Watford Irish centre on Sunday.

The first half of this game was a real battle with almost championship pace. Glen Rovers took the lead early on with a couple of nice scores, one in particular from Gary Connolly. The Oxford team pulled back with some stylish frees from full forward Liam Reale. The game was held up after 15 minutes when the unfortunate full forward injured himself after landing awkwardly. He had to come off and was a major loss to Eire Og. One could say that during the first half that Watford had the style but Oxford most certainly had the heart. Half time Glen Rovers Watford 0-05 vs Eire Og Oxford 0-04

The second half ensued but without the same pace – naturally the heat and the toil had taken its effects on the players.  Glen Rovers really came into the game and had some fine performances throughout – they scored a goal early on, Oxford replied with a goal from their powerhouse midfielder Odran McShane. In the last 15 minutes Glen Rovers powered on and scored some beautiful points, notably one from the old stalwart Paul Connolly.

An entertaining game and hopefully a sign of a competitive season ahead.

St Vincents Luton vs Cambridge Parnells.

Cambridge were unable to field a team.
